Job summary

AES Global in Cape Town is seeking a Process Engineer to modernise investment team workflows by writing precise specifications for AI-assisted development, bridging business analysis with technical delivery.

This hands-on role blends data flows, SQL and APIs to design better processes across asset types, working with engineering and product teams to deliver measurable value.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years in financial services / asset management.
• Understanding of asset manager investment processes and a desire to modernise them.
• Understanding of data and data flows (data and systems architecture).
• Strong SQL skills.
• Exposure to modern tooling such as Python to reduce manual effort and enable AI-assisted development.
• Experience consuming HTTP APIs (REST, GraphQL), databases and files.
• Intellectual curiosity and a self-directed approach.

We’re working with an established investment management firm, and they’re looking for a Process Engineer to help modernise how its investment teams work — bringing a business-analysis mindset to designing better processes and writing the specifications that let AI tooling build solutions.

This is a hands-on, analytical role at the intersection of technology and investment. It’s not a straight business-analyst role, and it doesn’t involve coding — instead, you’ll write clear, accurate specifications for AI-assisted development and drive new ways of working.
