Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Research Scientist to join our process development team in Soweto. You will design and run experiments to optimize chemical processes, improve yields, reduce waste, and ensure product quality within a collaborative R&D environment in Gauteng.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and at least 4 years of experience in process chemistry or development, with strong DoE and analytical skills to drive safe, scalable manufacturing

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field is required.
• Experience with organic synthesis and chemical engineering principles.
• Familiarity with design of experiments (DoE) and process optimization.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques for process monitoring and product characterization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical processes for laboratory-scale and pilot-scale production.
• Investigate and resolve technical challenges in synthesis and purification.
• Define critical process parameters and ensure process robustness.
• Analyze process data and implement improvements to enhance yield and purity.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams for technology transfer.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety and regulatory standards.
