The Principal Technical Consultant is responsible for providing team leadership, thought leadership, design, and implementation of technology solutions for clients in their operational technology landscape.
The role includes pre-sales technical support, technical formulation of proposals, solution designs, and pricing for technical solutions to sales teams. The resource is responsible for implementing technologies across the full implementation lifecycle, including discovery, configuration, testing, deployment, training, post go-live support, and handover to operations teams.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) standards, methods and frameworks such as ITIL, ISA-95, IEC62443, ISO 27001 and ISO20000.

Key Responsibilities
General
- Collaborate with the Cluster and LOB ecosystem, including other BUs, OEMs, system integrators, and customers.
Technical Leadership
- Responsible for project scope, reliability, quality and on-time delivery of projects.
- Evaluate project scope and devise strategies to reach feasible engineering solutions that are cost-effective to the business.
- Analyse client technical specifications, BoQ, drawings, and industry codes and standards collectively to develop the end product.
- Evaluate, analyse and research systems, components and products while keeping abreast of technological advancements and applying these in value engineering solutions.
- Comply with customer requirements during product development, manufacturing, FAT/SAT testing and relevant internal business processes.
- Develop and compile technical documents including functional design specifications, control philosophies, project-specific manuals, drawings, technical proposals and reports.
- Conduct system Risk Assessments and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), along with System Reliability Studies where applicable.
- Train and supervise engineering trainees on system tools and products.
- Coordinate and guide Engineering resources in collectively achieving project deliverables.
- Write or contribute to technical sections of proposals, including corresponding pricing components of RFXs (Requests for Proposal/Quotation or Tenders), ensuring they are accurate, persuasive and defensible.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, personal networks and professional societies.
- Maintain relevant ISO procedures and policies for the relevant department.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to changes in business and quality processes.
- Compile material lists, specify material and approve project documentation.
- Coordinate installation of relevant C&I equipment, including SCADA, HMI and PLC equipment.
- Maintain design standards for the CIE Engineering Team.
- Lead, guide and implement control system principles on various industry-specific PLC and SCADA solutions.
Qualifications
- Matric Qualification
- B.Sc. or BTech Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered with ECSA (Advantageous)
- OEM trainings/qualifications on product/solution sets
- PLC, SCADA, HMIs or any IC SOEMs certification (AVEVA will be advantageous)
