Job summary

Rand Water invites applications for the Principal Survey Assistant role to support the Survey Technologist in delivering specialised engineering survey services. You will help ensure Rand Water’s strategic goals are achieved by accurate field data collection and site measurements.

Key duties include locating underground services, basic surveying, field surveys, and ensuring equipment and vehicles are maintained.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 qualification.
• 10 years of experience working with surveyors.
• Able to read maps and plans.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Locating underground services with the electronic pipe locator.
• To perform basic survey such as levelling and using GPS under the supervisor of a surveyor.
• To assist the Surveyors to undertake field surveys
• Measuring on site using tape/Total Station or GPS
• Installation of beacons to mark the position of the pipeline and servitude.
• Vehicle and equipment maintenance.
