Job summary

Bidvest Facilities Management is seeking a highly qualified Principal Engineer to oversee all maintenance activities, asset lifecycle, and continuous service improvements across regional facilities. The role includes managing operations staff, budgets, and driving efficiency and reliability of assets in the region.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, GCC Factories eligibility, and at least 10 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in a senior role, plus leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Candidate GCC for Factories and Engineering body (PrEng/PrTech) requirement.
• Minimum 10 years engineering experience with at least 5 years in a senior role.
• Code B Driver's License.
• Minimum 7 years in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in Facilities management.
• Code B driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all reactive, preventative, active and planned maintenance.
• Ensure on-time planning and execution of Planned Maintenance in the region.
• Maintain availability and reliability of regional assets and buildings.
• Manage breakdowns, outages and implement root-cause analyses.
• Develop and report on maintenance budgets and metrics.
• Lead and develop engineering staff in the region.
• Support vacancy, EE and people development.
• Act as custodian of engineering assets in region.
• Ensure lifecycle and enhancement services for assets.
• Maintain assets to client specifications per agreements.
• Take accountability for all engineering functions and assets.
• Implement maintenance and operational standards to meet service standards.
• Report on status of assets and buildings in region.
• Drive innovation and efficiency initiatives.
• Measure staff performance and development.
• Lead engineering staff in the region.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Principal Engineer to oversee and manage all reactive, preventative, active and planned maintenance including asset life cycle and continuously work on the improvement of service quality, rationalization of services, efficiencies and effectiveness of maintenance strategies and repairs, manage the operations employees, budget etc.

Key Responsibilities

• On time planning and execution of all Planned Maintenance in the region.
• Availability and reliability of regional assets and buildings.
• Management of breakdowns, planned outages and implementation root cause failure outcomes.
• Reporting and reporting framework.
• Budget and cost management.
• Management and completion of reactive work and requests.
• Vacancy, employment equity and people development.
• Custodian of engineering assets in region.
• Ensure that all assets receive the necessary life cycle and enhancement services
• Ensure that assets are controlled, operated and to the necessary operational specifications
• To ensure that all engineering services are efficiently and effectively maintained and controlled at all times according to the specifications of the Client as stated in the applicable agreements.
• Take full legal responsibility and accountability for all engineering functions and assets in the region related to the contract.
• implementing maintenance and operational standards to comply with service standards specified
• Report on status of assets and buildings in region.
• Manage and implement innovation and other initiatives to improve availability, reliability and asset life cycle.
• Management and measurement of staff performance and their development accordingly.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor or Science or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Must be aCandidate GCC Factories
• Must be part of an Engineering body i.e. PrEng /. PrTech
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role.
• Proven experience in managing and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Code B Driver's License
• Minimum 7 years' experience in Electrical or Mechanical engineering
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Facilities management
• Strong technical background and have good management and leadership skills
