About the Role

Our client, a major player in the industrial infrastructure sector, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Electrical Project Engineer to be based in Tembisa, Gauteng . This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional to lead and manage complex electrical projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical engineering aspects of projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electrical systems, project management principles, and regulatory compliance. This position is critical to our client’s ongoing success in delivering large-scale infrastructure solutions and requires a candidate who can provide technical leadership and strategic direction. The role is based full-time at our client’s Tembisa, Gauteng office, offering a stable and dedicated work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major electrical engineering projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Oversee the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Manage project teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Conduct technical reviews and site inspections to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications.
• Manage stakeholder communication, providing regular project updates and resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing contingency plans as necessary.
• Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices within the organization.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to project team members.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in managing and delivering large-scale electrical projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in project management software and methodologies (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• In-depth knowledge of high voltage (HV), medium voltage (MV), and low voltage (LV) electrical systems.
• Proven track record of managing project budgets and schedules effectively.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent understanding of contract administration and procurement processes.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
