About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing SaaS company, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to join their fully remote team. The company has offices in East London, Eastern Cape, this position offers complete flexibility for candidates across South Africa. You will play a leadership role in designing, implementing, and managing our client's cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. This role involves working with cutting-edge cloud technologies, automating deployments, and optimizing cloud performance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure as code, containerization, and CI/CD practices. We are looking for a strategic thinker and technical leader who can drive innovation and mentor other engineers in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).


• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Pulumi.


• Implement and manage container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).


• Build and automate CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment.


• Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of the cloud environment.


• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations.

Requirements

• Proven experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).


• Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).


• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.


• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.


• Solid understanding of networking, security, and monitoring in cloud environments.
