Placements24 in Welkom seeks a skilled Mechanical Fitter & Turner to join our operations team. You will fabricate, assemble and repair mechanical components from technical drawings, ensuring precision and quality in every part.

The role requires experience with conventional and CNC machine tools, strong measurement techniques and a commitment to safety. You’ll work independently in a busy workshop and contribute to installation and maintenance projects across the Free State.

Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanical Fitter & Turner with recognized trade qualifications.
• Extensive experience in operating conventional and CNC machine tools.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and performing precise measurements.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and metalworking techniques.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in Welkom.

Responsibilities

• Operate lathes, milling machines, and other machine tools to fabricate precision metal parts.
• Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment according to specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Perform repairs and modifications on machinery, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of machinery and components to identify wear or potential issues.
• Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment in Welkom.
