Job summary

Department of Health is seeking a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) to dispense under supervision and assist in compounding, manufacturing and stock control. The role requires Grade 12 or equivalent and registration to operate as a Post Basic Pharmacist.

The incumbent will perform dispensing, labeling, and providing patient guidance while adhering to Medicines Act procedures and maintaining stock control within extended service hours and weekends.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification that allows registration with Pharmacy Council as a Post Basic Pharmacist.
• Good communication, interpersonal skills, conflict management, time management, punctuality, flexibility and operational planning skills.
• Availability to work on weekends (Public Holidays) and extended pharmacy hours.

Responsibilities

• Dispense schedule 1 and 2 medicines under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Assist with compounding/manipulation or preparation of non-sterile/sterile medicines per procedures.
• Assist with manufacturing and repacking of medicines and manage stock according to instructions.
