Job summary

Dis-Chem Pharmacy is seeking a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant for the Long Beach store. You will perform duties under the direct personal supervision of a Pharmacist in the dispensary and provide excellent customer service.

Essential qualifications include a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant Qualification and Grade 12 with at least 50% in Mathematics/Life Science or Physical Science, plus computer and numerical skills. Advantageous skills include Unisolv and E-Scripting.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Mathematics (HG), Life Science and/or Physical Science with at least 50% average.
• Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant Qualification.
• Computer and numerical skills.

Responsibilities

• The pharmacist's assistant (post-basic) may perform services under the direct supervision of a pharmacist in the dispensary.
• Sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
• Assist with compounding, manipulation or preparation of medicines as per SOPs approved by the responsible pharmacist.
• Re-packaging of medicine; stock control and distribution of Schedule 1–5 medicines.
• Read, prepare, label and supply medicines following prescription interpretation by a pharmacist.
• Provide instructions and information to promote health and correct medicine use.
• Capture patient details and verify accuracy; ensure correct picking, packing and labeling.
