Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is offering an Apprenticeship in Bricklaying. This hands-on program trains you in bricklaying, block laying and masonry through real-site experience under skilled tradespeople.

You will learn to prepare foundations, mix mortar, lay bricks and blocks, and finish structures to a high standard. You'll gain practical site experience on diverse construction projects, with mentorship and clear progression toward becoming a qualified bricklayer.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with a Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• A genuine interest in masonry and construction trades.
• Good physical strength and stamina, with the ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail for precise work.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Reliable and punctual for work in and around Port Elizabeth.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced bricklayers in preparing mortar and carrying materials to the worksite.
• Learn to set out lines and levels for brick courses and ensure they are plumb and true.
• Practice laying bricks and blocks in various patterns and bonding techniques.
• Assist with the construction of walls, partitions, chimneys, and other masonry structures.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment, keeping the work area tidy.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations on construction sites.
