Salt Digital Recruitment is seeking a Principal Architect in Cape Town. This leadership role involves driving architectural outcomes across eCommerce, manufacturing, and data platforms. As a strategic lead, you will manage large-scale migrations and ensure engineering teams can operate efficiently.

Ideal candidates will have migration expertise, deep eCommerce knowledge, and proficiency in cloud-native environments. You will mentor engineers, define best practices, and advocate for delivery enablement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading multi-quarter, large-scale platform or product migrations.
• Deep experience with high-volume transactional systems like payments and order management.
• Expert knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Proficiency in AWS cloud-native environments and frontend/backend architecture.
• A seasoned communicator with the ability to influence without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Define target architectures, standards, and ensure compliance guardrails.
• Design interfaces and migration patterns enabling parallel delivery.
• Partner with teams to enhance CI/CD and reliability metrics.
• Mentor engineers and translate technical decisions into business impact.
