Job summary

Samancor is seeking a leader to head the Production and Maintenance Teams, driving safe, cost-effective execution of all production and maintenance processes to deliver high-quality finished products.

You will document and review annual strategies, manage budgets, production quality, and asset care, while coaching staff, ensuring safety, and achieving performance targets in a dynamic mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Document and review annual plant production strategy to align with the business plan.
• Perform planned Visible Field Audits.
• Set and achieve the Production Budget.
• Set and achieve Production Quality.
• Maintain production through strict work management principles.
• Uphold production standards and specifications.
• Document and review annual maintenance strategy to align with the business plan.
• Adhere to maintenance work management principles to maximise availability and minimise cost.
• Manage Engineering Assets to meet designed capacity and periodic refurbishments.
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and specifications.
• Audit assets and documentation to standardise spares and new installations.
• Manage the Department’s operations and staffing.
• Minimise labour turnover and align staffing with the budget.
• Achieve HDSA/Female targets and manage performance.
• Ensure IDP’s linked to performance results and quarterly reviews.
• Conduct recruitment interviews and coach staff for improved performance.
• Ensure discipline: absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct.
• SHEQ: assess risk exposures and mitigate, using the IMS toolbox.
• Lead strategic planning, organising, and system-wide problem solving.
