Job summary

Forvia in Cape Town, South Africa seeks an experienced HSE professional to lead site health, safety and environmental initiatives. You will analyse risks, develop action plans, and coach management and staff to improve working conditions and environmental performance.

The role requires familiarity with South African regulations, automotive industry standards, and HSE tools. Strong bilingual English skills and prior plant experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with HSE specialization.
  • Plant/industrial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of HSE tools: AMDEC, 5 Why, audits, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18000.
  • Bi-lingual; English required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse site risks and implement improvements for safety, environment and working conditions.
  • Propose annual HSE action plan to site management.
  • Coach and support site management and employees.
  • Conduct annual risk assessments and implement controls.
  • Develop and maintain HSE policies in compliance with SA legislation and Faurecia standards.
  • Manage emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Participate in Faurecia's HSE network.
  • Monitor legal compliance and relations with local authorities.
  • Monitor HSE indicators and environmental data reporting.
  • Organise and drive HSE audits and trainings.
  • Carry out accident investigations.
  • Ensure ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001 compliance.
  • Induct all employees into HSE practices.
  • Conduct annual HSE refresher trainings.

Your Mission, Roles And Responsibilities
  • Analyse the site risks and bring solutions to improve the working conditions; the level of industrial safety; and respect of the environment
  • Propose an annual HSE action plan to the site management
  • Coach and support the site management and employees
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments annually and implement effective control measures.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the site HSE&S policies and programs in compliance with South African legislation and Faurecia standards.
  • Manage the plants emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Participate in Faurecia's HSE network
  • Monitor legal compliance and manage the site's relations with local government and regulatory organizations
  • Monitor the reporting of HSE indicators (FR0t, environmental data, ...)
  • Organise and drive HSE audits and trainings
  • Carry out accident enquiries
  • Ensure compliance to ISO 14001 2015 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Responsible for the HSE induction of all employees.
  • Conduct annual HSE refresher training to all employees.

Professional Experience
  • A first experience in a plant or in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of HSE tools and methods : AMDEC, 5 why methodology, job instruction, audits, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18000…
  • Knowledge of national legislation
  • General knowledge of automotive production plant technologies
  • Minimum bi-lingual (English required)
