Job summary

Festive, part of the Astral Group, seeks a Plant Engineer to oversee mechanical, electrical and facility systems to maximize uptime and ensure food safety compliance in a high-volume poultry operation.

You will lead preventative maintenance analysis, implement asset care plans, and manage capital projects, with cross-department collaboration to drive efficiency.

Qualifications

• Technical tertiary qualification in mechanical and/or electrical fields preferred.
• Experience in Poultry or FMCG plant advantageous.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
• Knowledge of the 20 Keys Program is a plus.

Job description

Festive, one of South African's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group is seeking a Plant Engineer to oversee all mechanical, electrical and facility systems to ensure maximum equipment uptime, strict food safety compliance and efficient high-volume production.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

• Continuous optimization and analyses of the Processing plant preventative maintenance system.
• Critical problem solving and utilization of key asset care techniques OEM RCM, 5Why and RCA processes.
• Assisting with preventative scheduling, task lists, reports and analyses to optimize plant uptime.
• Ensure effective utilization of the Pragma preventative maintenance and material management systems for all maintenance activities.
• Develop asset care plans for critical equipment to achieve preventative maintenance
• Define and implement engineering standards, maintenance strategies and asset integrity philosophies for property, plant, and equipment
• Contract management, planning, control and implementation of capital projects.
• Assisting in compiling of annual maintenance budget and control.
• Implementation & maintenance of sustainable projects on site that will improve plant running costs per unit.
• Daily interaction with various departmental & inter-group role players at management level.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Must have a technical tertiary qualification preferably in the mechanical and/or electrical field with a “Government Certificate of Competency for Factories” or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Experience in a Poultry Plant or FMCG plant will be to your advantage.
• Must be able to work overtime & on weekends when necessary.
• Knowledge of the 20 Keys Program will be an added advantage.
