Job summary

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold National Senior Certificate and a valid driver’s license.
• Open pit blasting or rock breaking certificate required; Competency A / Legal Liability.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in open pit mining; 2 years supervisory experience.
• Experience with open pit heavy equipment fleet and loading/hauling operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; medically fit to pass a medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Safely adhere to mine safety policies and maintain site housekeeping.

Duties & Responsibilities

Safety:

• Compliance with all safety regulations as set out in the mines policies.
• General tidiness and good housekeeping of site and other areas of responsibility.

Mining:

• Execution of planned production activities.
• Ensuring targets are achieved.
• Pre-shift meeting and inspection of work areas.
• Dump Control.
• Load and Hauling.
• Loading areas.
• Administration.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• National Senior Certificate.
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have an open pit blasting or rock breaking certificate.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.

• Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines as determined by the supervisor.
• Must possess basic problem solving, basic self-management.
