Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience in petrochemical or chemical manufacturing.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles and PHA methodologies.
• Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with Bloemfontein's industrial landscape is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, and reduce costs.
• Develop and utilize process simulation models (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) for design and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and implement effective solutions.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and implement safety recommendations.
• Design and specify process equipment, control systems, and instrumentation.
• Manage small to medium-sized capital projects, from conception through to commissioning.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide technical training to operators.
• Monitor KPIs and report on plant performance.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in chemical processing.
• Collaborate with the R&D team on process scale-up and new product introduction.
