A recruitment agency in Pretoria is looking for an HR Manager to oversee employee relations, compliance, and recruitment. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources and 2-4 years of experience in HR, preferably in retail or FMCG. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in HRIS are essential. The compensation is up to R per month, depending on experience.
Industrial relations and poor work performance. Advise line managers on appropriate disciplinary action to be taken and ensure the business always complies with the company's disciplinary code. Assist line management with the drafting of charges for warnings and disciplinary notifications. Draft and send telegrams / absconsion letters to employees who have absconded. Chair and conclude administrative tasks related to disciplinary hearings. Sign off on all IR matters and ensure an appropriate outcome is given. Represent the company at CCMA for Con / Arb set down hearings. Administer terminations – complete termination letter, UI19 and certificate of service. Manage and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations. HR Administration and Data Management. Ensure accurate administrative & payroll documentation is facilitated through the HRIS within agreed deadlines and follow-up on queries and outstanding issues. Ensure accurate data management i.e., all forms of leave taken, warnings & outcome of hearings, attendance registers, assessments and new employee details – all HR / IR documentation to be uploaded to HRIS. Ensure distribution of payslips and other employment related administrative documentation to relevant managers. Apply for uniforms and CGC ECR cards for newly appointed staff. Confirm employment status for employees. Administer and facilitate IOD claims. Facilitate termination administration processes of the employee, collect company property, and terminate medical aid, pension / provident fund transfers and confirm leave pay outs. Recruitment and Selection. Ensure recruitment requisitions are approved before initiating the recruitment process. Conduct SETA assessments for Merchandisers and Field Marketers. Screen CV's and perform initial screening interviews, including reference checks and verification checks on possible candidates. Advise successful candidates and regret unsuccessful candidates. Apply contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers and prepare necessary documentation. Finalize details and upload documentation on the HRIS (LOA, Promotion letter / Transfer letter etc.) Performance Management. Provide advice and assistance when conducting staff performance reviews. Provide advice and assistance on the preparation and updating of key performance areas and indicators. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions). Learning & Development. Facilitate training sessions as required and as per the national training schedule. Identify training needs for divisions and individual coaching needs, Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met. Business Consulting and Partnership. Conducts meetings with divisional management. Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate. Analyse trends and metrics in partnership with the People Data and Analytics and Talent and Development teams to develop solutions, programs and policies. Work closely with employees at all organisational levels to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Provide guidance on workforce planning and succession planning. Employment Law and Policy Compliance Management. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day‑day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal consultants as needed / required. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation. Provide guidance and input on legal process for business unit restructures.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management / Industrial Psychology / Organisational Psychology. 2 – 4 years Human Resources experience, preferably in retail / FMCG. Must have a valid SA driver's license and own vehicle. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English). Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in working with HR information systems. Excellent problem solving and communication skills. High levels of professionalism & confidentiality. Knowledge of Employment Legislation including OHSA, EEA, BCEA, LRA, NMWA and related determinations, regulations and codes. Experience in representation at the CCMA to arbitration. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors. Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity and performance management.
