Placements24 is seeking a skilled Penetration Tester to join our cybersecurity team in Randburg. You will identify security vulnerabilities across systems, networks, and applications through simulated attacks and document findings with actionable recommendations.

You will collaborate with security and IT teams to verify security controls and help strengthen the organization’s defense posture in a hybrid work model. CEH/OSCP/GPEN are desirable qualifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment.
• Proficiency with Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap and OWASP ZAP.
• Certifications such as CEH, OSCP or GPEN are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct authorized penetration tests on web apps, networks and cloud environments.
• Identify and document vulnerabilities, findings, and impact with methodology.
• Develop reports with remediation recommendations and risk assessment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and ethical Penetration Tester to join their cybersecurity team in Randburg . In this role, you will be responsible for identifying security vulnerabilities in the organization's systems, networks, and applications through simulated attacks. Your expertise will help the company strengthen its defenses and protect against real-world threats. You will work closely with security and IT teams to document findings, provide actionable recommendations, and verify the effectiveness of implemented security controls. This is a critical position for ensuring the robust security posture of the organization's digital assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct authorized penetration tests and vulnerability assessments on web applications, network infrastructure, and cloud environments.
• Identify and exploit security vulnerabilities, documenting the methodology, findings, and potential impact.
• Develop detailed reports outlining vulnerabilities, their risks, and practical remediation recommendations.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to discuss findings and assist in the implementation of security fixes.
• Stay current with the latest penetration testing techniques, tools, and emerging threats.
• Perform security audits and code reviews to identify potential weaknesses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment.
• Proficiency with various penetration testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, OWASP ZAP).
• Strong understanding of web application security, network protocols, and common attack vectors.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as CEH, OSCP, or GPEN are highly desirable.
