About the Role

Our client, a dynamic pediatric therapy center serving the Mahikeng, North West region, is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join their growing team. This role focuses on helping children develop, recover, improve, or maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a balance between in-person therapy sessions at our Mahikeng clinic and remote consultations or documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for working with children of all ages, from infants to adolescents, addressing a wide range of developmental, sensory, and physical challenges. You will be responsible for assessing children's needs, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions. We are looking for a creative, patient, and collaborative therapist committed to enhancing the quality of life for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for pediatric clients to identify functional limitations and developmental needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
• Provide direct pediatric occupational therapy services, including fine motor skill development, sensory integration therapy, gross motor activities, and adaptive equipment training.
• Adapt therapy approaches for both in-person sessions at our Mahikeng clinic and remote delivery via telehealth platforms.
• Educate and train parents, caregivers, and educators on strategies to support children's functional independence in daily routines.
• Monitor and document client progress accurately, updating treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, educators, and family members to ensure a holistic approach to care.
• Maintain professional competency through continuing education and staying updated on best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
• Ensure a safe and stimulating therapeutic environment.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy.
• Proficiency in sensory integration therapy, fine and gross motor skill development, and other relevant pediatric interventions.
• Experience and comfort with telehealth service delivery.
• Excellent diagnostic, treatment planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and child-centered approach.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, requiring on-site presence in Mahikeng, North West.
