Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Pediatric Nanny & Play Therapist Assistant for a caring family in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role focuses on providing dedicated care for a child with developmental needs, coordinating with external therapists as needed, and implementing therapeutic activities in daily routines.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of childcare experience, two in pediatric or developmental settings, and holds a relevant qualification in Early Childhood Development

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional childcare experience, with at least 2 years in pediatric/developmental settings.
• Familiarity with play therapy principles and techniques is highly advantageous.
• Certification or degree in Early Childhood Development, Special Needs Education, or related field.
• Strong understanding of child development and behavioral support strategies.
• First Aid and CPR certification are mandatory.
• Ability to provide excellent references from previous childcare roles involving special needs.
• Must be legally able to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, loving, and attentive daily care for the child.
• Assist in implementing play-based therapeutic activities guided by family and professionals.
• Support daily routines including feeding, hygiene, and sleep schedules.
• Engage child in age-appropriate and stimulating play/learning activities.
• Ensure child safety and well-being at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment for the child.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and daily events.
• Collaborate with external therapists or educators involved in care.
• Document observations and progress related to therapeutic goals.
• Administer medication as prescribed by parents/physicians.
