Job summary

One Connect Solutions is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to lead the end-to-end payroll function for multiple companies in South Africa. You will ensure accurate and timely processing, review calculations, and drive compliance with SARS and related regulations.

You will manage the payroll team, maintain confidential records, and collaborate with HR, Finance, and external providers to resolve payroll matters and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric is required.
• Diploma or Degree in Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' payroll experience within a multi-company payroll environment.
• Minimum 2 years' experience supervising or leading a payroll team.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience handling confidential employee and payroll information.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll function.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll.
• Manage daily payroll activities and ensure payroll deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Review and approve payroll calculations before final submission.
• Monitor compliance with payroll legislation, SARS requirements, employee benefit regulations and internal policies.
• Liaise with HR, Finance and operational management to resolve payroll-related matters.
• Manage payroll inputs, including new appointments, terminations, promotions, salary adjustments, allowances, deductions and benefits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation and company policies.
• Manage statutory submissions and payments, including PAYE, UIF and SDL.
• Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to management and relevant stakeholders.
• Reconcile payroll reports and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
• Liaise with HR, Finance, employees and external service providers regarding payroll matters.
• Manage payroll queries and ensure they are resolved promptly.
• Oversee payroll audits and provide supporting documentation when required.
• Ensure payroll processes and controls are consistently followed.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and controls.
• Stay up to date with changes in payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Maintain positive relationships with employees, management, service providers and regulatory bodies.
• Lead, mentor and support payroll team members.
• Provide accurate payroll data and reports for management decision-making.
