The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the accurate, compliant, and timely execution of end-to-end payroll processes within a Shared Services environment. The role requires extensive payroll experience in a multi-division, high-volume environment, with strong Sage 300 People expertise and a thorough understanding of South African payroll legislation.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Payroll Processing & Administration
- Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing for weekly and monthly payroll cycles.
- Administer payroll across multiple divisions, business units, and cost centres.
- Ensure accurate processing of salaries, wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, allowances, and deductions.
- Process new employee engagements, terminations, salary increases, and leave payouts.
- Maintain payroll records and employee data integrity within Sage 300 People.
Compliance & Statutory Requirements
- Ensure payroll compliance with South African labour and tax legislation.
- Prepare and submit EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations accurately and within prescribed deadlines.
- Manage statutory deductions including PAYE, UIF, and SDL.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and payroll procedures.
Reconciliations & Reporting
- Reconcile payroll to the General Ledger (GL) and finance reports.
- Perform third-party reconciliations and coordinate payments to relevant service providers.
- Generate payroll reports and provide insights to management and stakeholders.
- Support month-end and year-end payroll reporting requirements.
Audit & Query Resolution
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing accurate payroll documentation and reports.
- Investigate and resolve payroll queries from employees, management, and stakeholders efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure all payroll activities are completed within strict payroll cut-off dates and deadlines.
