Job summary

Tsebo Solutions Group in Milnerton, Western Cape, is seeking a hospital kitchen assistant to assist with meal preparation, portioning, and serving according to prescribed menus and dietary requirements. Deliver meals to wards and service areas promptly while ensuring quality presentation.

You will maintain cleanliness, support patient meal service, and respond to requests. The role requires working shifts, weekends and public holidays, with prior food service experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods.
• Grade 12 qualification.
• Previous experience in a food service, catering, hospitality, healthcare, or kitchen environment will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals according to prescribed menus and dietary requirements.
• Deliver meals to wards and designated service areas in a timely manner.
• Ensure food is presented and served in accordance with quality standards.
• Assist with patient meal service and respond courteously to customer requests.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchens, serving areas, dining spaces, and equipment.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and catering equipment as required.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock in accordance with food safety procedures.
• Adhere to all hospital food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and infection control policies.
• Report equipment faults, stock shortages, and health and safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Support catering functions and special events when required.
