Job summary

Garden Route Lodge in the Western Cape seeks an experienced Pastry Chef to join its dynamic hospitality team. The role focuses on showcasing pastry expertise in a world‑class lodge environment, with duties spanning dessert creation, bread production, and pastry kitchen management.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years’ senior pastry chef experience, Afrikaans basics, and strong stock control and kitchen administration skills. Start ASAP with accommodation and staff transport provided.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ senior pastry chef experience in a 4/5‑star hospitality establishment.
• Knowledge of dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong management skills and team leadership.
• Excellent stock control and kitchen administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and bakes breads, rolls, cakes, biscuits, desserts, and pastry goods.
• Produces hot box snacks and tea‑time treats.
• Ensures quality of raw materials and accurate ingredient measurement.
• Coordinates baking processes from preparation to cooling.
• Maintains portion control to minimize wastage.
• Performs regular stock takes with the main kitchen.
• Completes pastry kitchen administration accurately and timeously.
• Enforces hygiene regulations and Health & Safety standards.
