Job summary

The IIE Tertiary is seeking a Part‑Time Lecturer to deliver training and education, consult with students, and build knowledge in the discipline through research. The role supports the Academic department and involves updating the LMS, preparing assessments, and engaging students across modules.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree related to IT/Networking and lecturing experience in Information Technology Management or Network Engineering; PhD is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent with a focus on IT/ Networking.
  • Lecturing experience in IT Management and Networking disciplines.
  • Experience in guidance, facilitation and remediation.

Job description

Job Purpose

The role of the Part‑Time Lecturer is the delivery of training and education of students, student consultations, and the establishment of a knowledge base of the discipline through academic research & development, while providing overall support to the Academic department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver lectures and engage students based on module‑specific requirements in line with module pacers.
  • Manage resources including academic materials and liaising with the Information Centre.
  • Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
  • Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at‑risk students, and develop assessments in accordance with Central Academic Team briefings.
  • Monitor student engagement as well as assessment submission with relevant escalation.
  • Attend and participate in academic meetings across all faculties.
  • Reflect on, review, and analyse student module result.
  • Support the monitoring of at‑risk student in modules assigned to lecture.
Minimum Requirements
  • Masters degree in Information Systems/ Computer Science/ IT Management/ Computing/ Computer and Information Sciences/ Network Engineering. A PhD in the related field is an added advantage.
  • Alternatively: An NQF 9 qualification which includes exposure to networking, systems administration and programming.
  • Lecturing experience in Information Technology Management (Networking) /Network Engineer/ Systems Engineer/ Enterprise Network Manager and/or Administrator/ Network Technologist / Network Solutions Design, Manager and/ or Developer.
  • Work experience as a systems engineer/ network manager/infrastructure manager – Added advantage.
  • Experience in guidance, facilitation and remediation.
Key Competencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Teaching and Learning theory and interventions.
  • The ability to provide student support services.
  • The ability to work with and learn more about digitalised academic platforms.
  • Deadline orientated and can work well under pressure.
