Job summary

Bishops Music Department in Cape Town seeks a part-time Orchestral Percussion and Drum Kit teacher to deliver 8–10 hours of individual tuition and prepare students for exams and performances.

Experience with the Senior Marimba Band and orchestral percussion is advantageous; lessons fit around student timetables and after-school activities.

The Bishops Music Department is a large, vibrant and energetic department which offers a wide-ranging and holistic musical experience to boys from Grade R to Grade Twelve.

Due to growing subject numbers, the College Music Department is looking for a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic part-time Orchestral Percussion & Drum kit Teacher. Responsibilities will include the following:

• 8 - 10 hours of individual tuition
• Prepare students for practical school exams, external exams, eisteddfods, and other performances, as required
• The ability to take the Senior Marimba Band, as well as Orchestral Percussion will be an advantage

Applicants should note the following:

• Individual lessons take place from 12h30 until after school, with lesson times arranged according to the student’s extra-curricular timetable.

The successful applicant should ideally be available to commence work from 1 January 2027.
