Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyse client financial information including income, expenses, assets and liabilities.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial plans, cash-flow models and investment recommendations.
  • Conduct product and investment research and provider comparisons.
  • Prepare ROA and compliance documentation per FAIS/FSCA requirements.
  • Liaise with providers for quotations and policy documents.
  • Support adviser with implementation and client review packs.
  • Maintain accurate client data in CRM/practice management systems.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Paraplanner to work closely with a Financial Adviser in delivering comprehensive financial planning solutions to clients.

The successful candidate will play a key role in analysing client financial information, preparing financial plans and recommendations, compiling compliance documentation, conducting product and investment research, and supporting the implementation and ongoing review of financial advice.

This position requires a strong understanding of financial planning principles, excellent analytical ability, and a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Gather and analyse client financial information, including income, expenses, assets, liabilities, insurance, investments and retirement provisions.

Prepare comprehensive financial plans, cash-flow models and investment and risk recommendations for adviser review.

Conduct product, investment and fund research and comparisons across various providers.

Prepare Records of Advice (ROA) and supporting compliance documentation in accordance with FAIS, FSCA and internal compliance requirements.

Liaise with product providers to obtain quotations, illustrations, investment information and policy documentation.

Prepare client review packs and assist with annual and ongoing client review meetings.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information on the practice management/CRM system.

Ensure that all financial advice documentation meets regulatory and internal compliance standards.

Support the Financial Adviser with the implementation of recommendations and related administration.

Assist with the processing and follow-up of client applications and transactions.

Prepare annual tax and provisional tax calculations.

Manage multiple client files, priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

Minimum Requirements Qualifications

CFP® designation OR actively studying towards CFP® – essential.

Experience

Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a paraplanning, financial advice support or similar financial services role.

Sound knowledge of:

Investments and wealth planning

Retirement planning

Risk and insurance planning

Estate planning

Financial needs analysis

Good understanding of FAIS and FSCA regulatory requirements .

Experience compiling Records of Advice and financial planning documentation .

Experience working with financial product providers and investment platforms.

Language Requirement

Full professional fluency in Afrikaans and English, both written and spoken, is essential.

The client base requires the successful candidate to confidently communicate and prepare professional documentation in both languages.

Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical and numerical ability.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong written communication and report-writing skills.

Ability to interpret complex financial information and translate it into structured recommendations.

Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines simultaneously.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel .

Experience with financial planning software and CRM/practice management systems would be advantageous.

Professional and discreet when working with confidential financial information.

Strong administrative and follow-up skills.

Comfortable working closely with a Financial Adviser in a deadline-driven environment.

Collaborative, dependable and able to perform effectively under pressure.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong paraplanner who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure that financial advice is thoroughly researched, accurately documented and compliant.

You should be comfortable working with numbers, financial products, client information and detailed documentation while supporting an adviser in delivering a high standard of service to clients.

CFP® or active CFP® studies, 2–3+ years of relevant experience, and complete Afrikaans/English bilingual proficiency are non-negotiable requirements
