Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings in Durban is seeking a skilled painter for hospital facilities, responsible for maintaining walls, ceilings, and fixtures to ensure a hygienic, safe environment. You will manage interior and exterior painting across buildings, install and replace glass, and oversee scaffolding during maintenance tasks.

The role requires Matric, a SAQA Paint Surfaces qualification (NQF 3) or Trade Test, and at least 3 years on-site painting experience, with healthcare exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Matric is required; SAQA Paint Surfaces (NQF 3) qualification is advantageous.
• 3 years of site painting experience.
• Experience in healthcare environments is advantageous.
• Must be available for standby and callouts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces through to finishing coat.
• General painting of interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, including roofs, gutters, downpipes, and fascias.
• Paint plant and equipment.
• Replace broken glass in louvre window glass.
• Measure and order materials timeously.
• Supervise erection and dismantling of scaffolding.
• Ceramic tiling in ablution blocks, including splashbacks for basins, etc.
• Demarcate roads, parking bays, and parking spaces.
• Perform routine inspections and report findings to Maintenance Supervisor; assist with additional tasks as required.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To maintain, protect, and enhance hospital buildings, infrastructure, and equipment through professional painting and related maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and well-presented environment in compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Preparation of all surfaces through to the finishing coat.
• General painting of interior and exterior surfaces of all buildings, including roofs, gutters, downpipes, and fascias.
• Painting of plant and equipment.
• Replacement of broken glass and louvre window glass.
• Ability to measure and order materials timeously.
• Supervision of the erection and dismantling of scaffolding.
• Ceramic tiling in ablution blocks, including splashbacks for basins, etc.
• Demarcation of roads, parking bays, and parking spaces.
• Perform routine inspections, with findings recorded and reported to the Maintenance Supervisor. Assist with additional maintenance-related tasks as and when required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric
• SAQA approved qualification in Paint Surfaces (NQF Level 3) advantageous.
• Must have a valid Trade Test certificate
• 3 years' site experience within the painting trade.
• Experience of working in a healthcare environment advantageous.
• Must be available to work on standby and attend callouts as required.
