Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings seeks a skilled painter to maintain and enhance hospital buildings and equipment in Durban. You will perform interior and exterior painting, tile work in ablution blocks, and basic maintenance tasks to ensure a hygienic environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of site painting experience, a trade certificate, and SAQA qualification in paint surfaces. Healthcare experience is advantageous; on-call standby may be required.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent is required.
• SAQA approved qualification in Paint Surfaces (NQF Level 3) is advantageous.
• Must have a valid Trade Test certificate.
• Minimum of 3 years’ site experience in the painting trade.
• Experience in healthcare environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces through to finishing coat.
• Paint interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, including roofs, gutters, downpipes and fascias.
• Paint plant and equipment.
• Replace broken glass and louvre window glass.
• Measure and order materials timeously.
• Supervise erection and dismantling of scaffolding.
• Tile in ablution blocks and splashbacks.
• Demarcate roads, parking bays, and spaces.
• Record findings from routine inspections and report to Maintenance Supervisor.

Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To maintain, protect, and enhance hospital buildings, infrastructure, and equipment through professional painting and related maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and well-presented environment in compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Preparation of all surfaces through to the finishing coat.
• General painting of interior and exterior surfaces of all buildings, including roofs, gutters, downpipes, and fascias.
• Painting of plant and equipment.
• Replacement of broken glass and louvre window glass.
• Ability to measure and order materials timeously.
• Supervision of the erection and dismantling of scaffolding.
• Ceramic tiling in ablution blocks, including splashbacks for basins, etc.
• Demarcation of roads, parking bays, and parking spaces.
• Perform routine inspections, with findings recorded and reported to the Maintenance Supervisor. Assist with additional maintenance-related tasks as and when required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric
• SAQA approved qualification in Paint Surfaces (NQF Level 3) advantageous.
• Must have a valid Trade Test certificate
• 3 years' site experience within the painting trade.
• Experience of working in a healthcare environment advantageous.
• Must be available to work on standby and attend callouts as required.
