Job summary

Packhouse Manager position based in Cape Winelands, Western Cape, SA. The role oversees daily packhouse operations, ensuring quality control, production scheduling, and staff supervision to meet export standards.

Salary is R58 000 CTC inclusive of medical aid and pension; requires strong leadership, food-safety compliance, and transport. Willingness to work seasonal hours and manage budgets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ packhouse management experience (stone fruit preferred).
• Expertise in South African agricultural compliance and export protocols (BRCGS, SIZA etc)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Computer literacy and proficiency in packhouse software and documentation systems
• Willingness to work hours as per industry and seasonal requirements
• Must have own reliable transport

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the packhouse
• Manage sorting, grading, packing, and production processes
• Ensure efficient production, scheduling, and time management
• Train, supervise, and manage seasonal staff
• Lead, motivate, and support teams to achieve productivity and quality targets
• Monitor staff performance and productivity
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, traceability, quality, safety, and export standards
• Maintain accurate operational records and documentation for audits and reviews
• Handle administrative duties, reporting, and documentation
• Manage and monitor the packhouse budget and operational costs
• Plan and allocate labour and resources effectively during seasonal peaks
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and productivity
