Job summary

Placements24 seeks an energetic Outdoor Adventure Guide to lead guided excursions around Polokwane and its surrounding landscapes. You will escort groups on activities such as hiking, bird watching, cultural tours, and potentially more adventurous pursuits, while sharing knowledge of the local environment.

You will manage group dynamics, ensure safety, and provide engaging interpretation of flora, fauna, ecology, and culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as outdoor guide or in a similar leadership role with groups.
• Certification in Wilderness First Aid or equivalent is required; advanced certifications are a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of local flora, fauna, geography, and cultural history.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide groups on outdoor adventures (hiking, nature walks, etc.).
• Ensure safety and well-being by following safety guidelines and emergency procedures.
• Provide engaging interpretation of local environment and culture.
• Manage group logistics including equipment checks, route planning, and timing.
• Foster a positive, inclusive group atmosphere and participant engagement.
• Maintain proper use of all relevant equipment.
