Placements24 is seeking an experienced Optical Network Designer to help grow the Bloemfontein telecom network. The role focuses on planning, design, and optimization of optical networks to meet current and future bandwidth needs, with a mix of on-site work and remote collaboration.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years in optical network design, with deep knowledge of fiber optics, DWDM, GPON, and hands-on use of optical CAD tools.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a significant entity in the telecommunications sector, is seeking an experienced Optical Network Designer to contribute to their growing network infrastructure in **Bloemfontein, Free State**. This role involves the strategic planning, design, and optimization of optical networks to meet current and future bandwidth demands. You will be responsible for creating detailed network designs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of optical transmission technologies, network architecture, and the specific challenges of deploying and managing fiber optic networks in diverse environments. This hybrid role combines remote work flexibility with essential on-site collaboration and field assessment requirements within the **Bloemfontein** region. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proficiency with optical design software and CAD tools.
• Experience with optical power meters, OTDRs, and other field testing equipment.
• Understanding of network architecture principles and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
