Placements24 seeks an experienced Operations Manager, Distribution to lead the Upington distribution hub in the Northern Cape. You will oversee all warehouse and fleet activities, drive efficiency, and manage a diverse team of staff and drivers on-site.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field and a minimum of six years in warehouse/distribution management, with at least three years in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day warehouse and distribution activities at Upington facility.
• Ensure efficient inventory receiving, put-away, picking, packing and dispatching.
• Oversee fleet operations including scheduling, maintenance, and driver management.
• Develop and implement procedures to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor KPIs like order fulfillment, inventory accuracy, and delivery times.
• Lead, train and motivate warehouse staff and drivers.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and security regulations.
• Manage operational budgets, control costs and identify savings opportunities.
• Liaise with procurement, sales and external transport providers to ensure smooth operations.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost performance and customer satisfaction.

About the Role Our client, a leading national distributor of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), is seeking an experienced Operations Manager, Distribution to lead their distribution hub in Upington, Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day warehouse and distribution activities at the Upington facility.
• Ensure efficient inventory management, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and dispatching.
• Oversee fleet operations, including scheduling, maintenance coordination, and driver management.
• Develop and implement operational procedures to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order fulfillment rates, inventory accuracy, and delivery times.
• Lead, train, and motivate a diverse team of warehouse staff and drivers.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and security regulations within the distribution center.
• Manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Liaise with internal departments (procurement, sales) and external partners (transport providers) to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in warehouse and distribution management, preferably within the FMCG sector.

• Proven experience in inventory management, warehouse optimization, and fleet coordination.
• Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and distribution software.

• Must be willing to work on-site in Upington, Northern Cape , as this is a non-remote operational role.
• A valid driver's license is essential.
