Job summary

Redstone Commodity Search is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the chrome trading operations in Johannesburg, South Africa. You will manage end-to-end execution of trades, coordinate freight, oversee trade documentation and ensure compliance, while guarding margins and service levels.

The role requires strong logistics, Incoterms knowledge and a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset in a fast-moving commodity environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in commodity trading operations, traffic management or logistics.
• Experience coordinating African and international commodity exports and coordinating multiple shipments.
• Strong understanding of international shipping, Incoterms, Bills of Lading and Letters of Credit.
• Highly organised and solutions-oriented, with strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to take ownership in a fast-moving trading environment.
• Role is to be located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end execution of commodity trades, from contract through to final delivery, ensuring shipments are executed efficiently and on time.
• Coordinate ocean freight, containers, bulk vessels and inland transport, working closely with shipping lines, freight forwarders and clearing agents.
• Own trade documentation and compliance, including Bills of Lading, Letters of Credit, certificates, inspections, Incoterms and customs requirements.
• Act as the key operational interface between customers, suppliers, mines, processors, warehouses and logistics providers, resolving issues and protecting commercial relationships.
• Control freight, demurrage, detention and other logistics costs, identifying opportunities to improve margins while managing operational and counterparty risk.
• Role reports to CEO.

Key Qualifications / Experience

• Strong understanding of international shipping, Incoterms, Bills of Lading and Letters of Credit.
• Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding of how logistics, freight and operational issues directly impact trade margins.
• Highly organised and solutions-oriented, with strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to take ownership in a fast-moving trading environment.
