Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Operations Geologist to provide real-time geological support during drilling in East London, Eastern Cape. You will interpret wireline logs, mud logs, and LWD/MWD data to guide well paths and maintain geological objectives in a demanding field environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Geology and at least 4 years of Operations Geologist experience in oil and gas, with the ability to collaborate across drilling crews and engineering teams for safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related Earth Science field.
• Minimum of 4 years as an Operations Geologist, ideally in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with real-time wellsite operations and data interpretation.
• Familiarity with wireline logs, mud logs, and LWD/MWD data.
• Strong communication and decision-making under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time geological supervision for drilling operations.
• Interpret wireline logs, mud logs, core samples, and LWD/MWD data.
• Recommend well path adjustments and drilling parameters.
• Monitor progress against geological prognosis and hazards.
• Communicate geological decisions to drilling crews and office teams.
• Ensure data acquisition quality and prepare end-of-well reports.
• Collaborate with exploration and reservoir teams to update models.
• Uphold safety and geological integrity throughout operations.
