Placements24 is seeking an Operations Geologist to support drilling operations near Soweto, Gauteng. You will provide real-time geological guidance, correlate data with offset wells and seismic data, and help optimize drilling performance under pressure in a dynamic Oil & Gas environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Geology, 3+ years in operations geology, and proficiency in mud logging, log interpretation, and geological modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum of 3 years in operations geology in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with mud logging interpretation, log correlation, and basic geological modeling.
• Familiarity with well logging tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time geological support during drilling, including mud logging data interpretation.
• Correlate formations with offset wells and seismic data.
• Identify and report geological hazards such as overpressure and gas kicks.
• Advise on casing points and drilling parameters based on geology.
• Prepare samples for lab analysis and support wireline logging programs.
• Contribute to geological models and cross-sections from operational data.
• Document and manage geological information.
• Participate in post-well reviews and lessons learned.
