Job summary

Penta Consulting is hiring a Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer to lead design, deployment and operation of OpenShift platforms, with emphasis on modernizing WebSphere workloads in a regulated enterprise. You will drive containerization, implement GitOps and CI/CD, and build IaC with Terraform and Ansible while ensuring security and governance across cloud environments.

The role requires strong OpenShift/Kubernetes skills, cloud experience (AWS/Azure/IBM Cloud), and the ability to mentor teams

Qualifications

Experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes administration.
Expertise in GitOps, CI/CD, Terraform, and Ansible.
Hands-on modernization and containerization of Java/WebSphere apps.
Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, Datadog.
Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud.
Strong stakeholder management and communication in regulated environments.
Nice-to-have: IBM Transformation Advisor or WebSphere Liberty migration experience.
Nice-to-have: IBM Cloud Paks and OpenShift middleware exposure.
Nice-to-have: Kafka and event-driven architectures.
Nice-to-have: Python or Java automation skills.
Nice-to-have: VMware and hybrid cloud experience.
Certifications in OpenShift, Kubernetes (CKA) or cloud.

Responsibilities

Lead design, deployment, and operation of Red Hat OpenShift platforms.
Drive WebSphere App Server modernization and containerization.
Implement GitOps and CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions).
Develop IaC with Terraform and Ansible.
Support platform reliability via tuning, monitoring, and SRE.

We're hiring a Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer - WebSphere Modernization for one of our major global technology partners. This role will focus on driving large-scale application modernization, migrating legacy WebSphere workloads to OpenShift, and delivering secure, cloud-native platform solutions within a highly regulated enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, deployment, and operation of Red Hat OpenShift platforms
Drive WebSphere Application Server modernization and containerization initiatives
Implement GitOps and CI/CD pipelines using ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and related tools
Develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and Ansible
Support platform reliability through performance tuning, monitoring, and SRE practices
Collaborate with application, architecture, and stakeholder teams to deliver successful migrations
Ensure platform security, governance, and compliance standards are met
Mentor engineers and promote OpenShift best practices across delivery teams

Key Requirements

Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes administration
Expertise in GitOps, CI/CD, Terraform, and Ansible
Hands-on experience modernizing and containerizing enterprise Java/WebSphere applications
Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, or Datadog
