Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. in Cape Town is seeking a skilled musician to join our onboard team as conductor and music supervisor for rehearsals, performances, and equipment maintenance on cruise ships.

You will collaborate with cast, musicians, and technical crew to deliver high-quality shows while maintaining professional relations with all crew members. Required are a Bachelor’s degree in music or related field and at least 2 years of live-performance experience, with fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music, musical theatre, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a cruise ship or live performance setting.
• Strong musical skills and knowledge of a variety of musical styles.
• Proficiency in conducting and leading rehearsals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary travel documents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Musical Director in rehearsals, performances, and maintenance of musical equipment.
• Collaborate with cast, musicians, and technical crew for high-quality performances.
• Conduct rehearsals in the absence of the Musical Director.
• Provide musical support for onboard events and activities on a cruise ship.
• Maintain positive working relationships with crew members.
• Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations.
