Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Chemical Engineer for a major industrial manufacturer in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead day-to-day plant operations, troubleshoot processes, and drive continuous improvement to meet safety and efficiency targets.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and at least 6 years in chemical plant operations or process engineering, with strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of chemical plant operations or process engineering.
• Strong understanding of unit operations, process control, and chemical thermodynamics.
• Experience with safety procedures and regulatory compliance in an industrial setting.
• Proficiency in process monitoring and data analysis tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize chemical processes in a manufacturing plant environment.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions to ensure consistent production.
• Monitor process parameters and equipment performance, identifying areas for improvement.
• Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and equipment failures.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to schedule and execute plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training to plant personnel.
• Participate in process design reviews and provide operational input for new projects.
• Manage chemical inventory and ensure efficient material flow through the plant.
• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and improve overall plant efficiency.
