Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Heavy Machinery Installation and Repair Specialist to join the service team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will install, commission and maintain large-scale mining equipment, ensuring peak performance and minimal downtime.

The role requires a trade qualification and 6+ years of hands-on experience, with strong hydraulics, powertrain and electrical troubleshooting. Travel to client sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or Diesel Mechanics.
• Minimum of 6 years hands-on experience with installation, maintenance and repair of heavy machinery.
• Strong expertise in hydraulic systems, powertrain components and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics and electrical diagrams.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and equipment specific to heavy machinery.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites in Kimberley.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and commission new heavy machinery according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and lubrication on heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on a wide range of machinery.
• Use diagnostic tools, manuals and schematics to identify root causes of failure.
• Conduct on-site repairs and overhauls with minimal disruption to operations.
• Maintain service reports detailing work performed, parts used and time allocated.
