Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Engineer for on-site duties in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will conduct EIAs, develop mitigation plans, monitor air, water and soil quality, and ensure compliance with SA environmental legislation across energy projects.

This role requires at least a bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering and a minimum of four years’ experience in heavy industry. You will liaise with regulators, prepare reports, and train project teams on best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in environmental engineering, preferably in energy or heavy industry.
• Thorough understanding of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct EIAs and develop environmental management plans for energy projects.
• Monitor air, water, and soil quality at project sites and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
• Develop and implement strategies for waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.
• Investigate environmental incidents, identify causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, local communities, and internal stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Provide technical expertise and training on environmental compliance and best practices to project teams.
