Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join a consultancy in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on ensuring development projects comply with environmental regulations, promoting sustainable practices, and delivering EIAs, EMPs, and expert guidance in pollution control and waste management.

You will work on diverse projects across sectors in the Eastern Cape, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or related science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or management.
• Experience with EIA process management and reporting is essential.
• Proficiency with relevant environmental legislation in South Africa.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Basic Assessments (BAs) for development projects.
• Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and monitoring programs.
• Provide expert advice on environmental compliance and best practices.
• Assess and propose solutions for water quality, waste management, and pollution control issues.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and stakeholders to secure environmental permits and ensure compliance.
• Conduct site audits and inspections to verify adherence to environmental standards and plans.
