Job summary

Transnet SOC Ltd is seeking a Trade Assistant (Electrical/Mechanical) to support artisans in maintenance and refurbishment of pipeline equipment. The role focuses on safe, timely preventive work and assisting with repairs and testing to keep the network running.

Responsibilities include preparing replacement parts, operating basic tools, loading/unloading, and occasionally driving or trenching as required. On-site work with strict safety adherence in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with at least 1 year technical maintenance experience.
• Code 08 or higher Driver's license required.
• First Aid level I and Fire Fighting certifications preferred.
• Basic technical skills and hand tools; able to use power tools such as grinders.
• General health and safety awareness; operation of cranes, forklifts and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Artisan with preventive maintenance on equipment to keep pipelines operational.
• Remove and replace equipment; prepare, install, repressurize and test installations.
• Refurbish equipment by disassembly, parts replacement and reassembly to spec.
• Assist with repairs to bursts and route integrity; perform right-of-way tasks.
• Load and secure materials; assist with trenching and driving as needed.
