Job summary

NOV, a global leader in oil and gas technology, seeks a Repair Technician for the Aftermarket Group in Sub-Saharan Africa. You will repair and maintain NOV Rig Technologies equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer expectations.

The role covers disassembly, testing, and rework of top drives, roughnecks, pipe racking, BOPs, and sub-components, with focus on safety and continuous improvement in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum National Diploma N6 in Mechanical Engineering or Trade Certificate (Fitter/Millwright).
• At least 5+ years with a Diploma or 6+ years with a Trade in mechanical repair.
• Strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems; exposure to oil & gas environments is advantageous.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook; good report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, refurbish, reassemble and test NOV Rig Technologies equipment (Top Drives, Roughnecks, Pipe Racking, BOPs and sub-components).
• Interpret assembly drawings; work with bearings, gearboxes and seal arrangements.
• Set up and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) independently.
• Handle hydraulic and pneumatic components; troubleshoot and test high-pressure systems.
• Understand and troubleshoot electrical aspects within equipment assemblies.
• Read and follow specifications and BOMs; complete documentation for QA.
• Identify defects, prepare non-conformance reports and perform rework per engineering changes.
• Support on-time delivery, schedule adherence and achievement of quality targets.
• Contribute to safety and process improvements under NOV's BPA; perform facility maintenance as needed.
