Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Mechanical Technician to join the maintenance and repair team in Soweto, supporting critical infrastructure within the oil and gas sector. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of machinery to ensure operational continuity and efficiency.

The role requires a National Diploma or N3 in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of three years’ industrial experience, with a focus on pumps, valves, and gearboxes.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or N3 in Mechanical Engineering or related trade.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as Mechanical Technician in industrial settings.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of pumps, valves, gearboxes and other machinery.
• Ability to read technical schematics and maintenance procedures.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and safety practices.
• Good problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and preventive repairs on mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement repair solutions.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and manuals to guide work.
• Operate workshop tools and precision measuring instruments safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used and time spent.
• Ensure all work complies with safety policies and industry regulations.
