Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Subsea Field Engineer for field-based operations near Welkom, South Africa. The role requires installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of subsea production equipment, with extensive offshore travel and on-site representation of the client.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (HND/HNC with extensive experience acceptable), 7+ years in subsea field ops, and offshore certifications such as BOSIET/HUET.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (HND/HNC accepted with extensive experience).
• Minimum 7 years of subsea field operations experience in Oil & Gas.
• Strong knowledge of subsea production systems (trees, manifolds, wellheads, controls).
• Experience with offshore installation vessels and operations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and P&IDs.
• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in harsh offshore environments.
• Valid offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
• Excellent communication and multicultural teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute the installation and commissioning of subsea equipment.
• Perform pre-start-up checks, functional tests, and performance verification of subsea systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with subsea hardware and control systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance activities on installed subsea assets.
• Provide technical support and guidance to installation and maintenance crews.
• Ensure all activities comply with company safety standards, procedures, and client requirements.
• Prepare detailed field reports, including progress updates, incident reports, and completion certificates.
• Manage equipment and logistics on project sites.
• Liaise with clients, offshore installation managers, and other project stakeholders.
