Job summary

FROGG Recruitment client in Montague Gardens, Cape Town is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join the finance team, focusing on accurate bookkeeping across payables, receivables, payroll and daily entries.

The role is office-based with negotiable, high-end salary; the candidate will manage GL, prepare monthly reports, support audits and liaise with external accountants.

Candidates should have relevant degree, CB certification, 7+ years experience and proficiency with Sage and Excel.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.
• Professional certification such as a Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar.
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage).
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Managing the general ledger in an accurate, up-to-date manner.
• Overseeing accounts payable, including coding and processing payments.
• Perform payroll functions and submit payroll taxes.
• Prepare financial reports through data collection, analysis and summarization.
• Collaborate with external accountants for tax preparation and filing.
• Monitor cash flow and forecasting; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide guidance and supervision to junior accounting staff.
