O&M Plant Manager
Reporting to: Associate Director: Construction Delivery & Execution
Location: Klerksdorp, North West, South Africa
Position Purpose
The O&M Plant Manager is responsible for the Doornhoek PV project, specifically ensuring that the facility operates efficiently.
Responsibilities
- To oversee all the operational and maintenance activities of the PV Pant.
- Coordinate, supervise and report on EPC’s daily activities.
- Warranty administration – liaising with the EPC contractor, compiling reports and supporting documentation for warranty claims.
- Ensure that the facility is operated with optimum efficiency, availability and reliability.
- Review, develop and ensure implementation of SOPs to ensure safe operation of machinery and safety of personnel.
- Developing maintenance schedules in conjunction with OEM specifications.
- Organizing and coordinating major corrective and preventative maintenance activities with EPC.
- Compile daily, weekly and monthly performance reports.
- Monitor and analyse Plant’s performance KPIs and implement improvement strategies were required.
- Management of plants logistics and warehouse spare parts.
- Coordinate technical and performance meetings with EPC and chair monthly health & safety committee meetings.
- Ensure operation and maintenance are carried out in line with the O&M Contract.
- Assist the EPC in planning and coordinating maintenance tasks according to priorities.
- Active participation in troubleshooting (Fault-finding) and conducting root cause analysis timeously when required and providing technical reports.
- Authorize, permit and supervise MV/HV switching operations for maintenance, operational and inspection purposes.
- Perform regular quality inspections and analysing fault/ alarm trends to diagnose and prevent possible failures.
- Ensure all incidents and near misses are duly reported, investigated and root causes analysed to prevent reoccurrence.
- Supervisory of Equipment as per the GMR regulation and fulfils the responsibilities of a GMR2.7 appointee.
- Be the custodian of occupational HSE for the plant, ensure full compliance with the requirements and provisions of the OHS Act and its regulations.
- Manage relationships of local stakeholders and Landowners with support from ESG department
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc, B.Eng, BEng Tech, B.Tech or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Relevant management qualification/ training
- National Diploma or BTech or Degree in Electrical Engineering
- At least 5 years’ experience in the renewable energy industry, preferably PV in O&M.
- At least 2 years’ experience as an O&M Plant Manager.
- Good understanding of ORHVS and in possession of certificate.
- Previous Experience as a GMR2.7 appointee.
- Government Certificate of Competency for Factories. (Not compulsory but will be advantage).
- Experience in the Operation and maintenance of HV/MV equipment & systems.
- Experience in utilisation of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Working with substation automation system equipment.
- Experience working within a multi-cultural environment.

- Knowledgeable on PV Solar technologies.
