Job Description

Join the lively team at Mama Shelter Cape Town as our Night Manager.

• Nighttime Leader: Take charge of the hotel during overnight hours, ensuring seamless operations across all departments.
• Guest Experience Champion: Deliver exceptional guest service, handle escalated concerns, and create memorable experiences for our guests.
• Team Coach: Lead and support the night team, ensuring everyone is motivated, engaged, and delivering Mama‑style hospitality.
• Decision Maker: Act as the manager on duty, confidently handling unexpected situations and making operational decisions when needed.
• Safety & Security Guardian: Oversee hotel safety, security procedures, and emergency responses to ensure a secure environment for guests and staff.
• Operational Expert: Monitor daily operations, coordinate between departments, and ensure all standards and procedures are maintained throughout the night.
• Communication Bridge: Prepare detailed handovers and collaborate closely with department leaders to ensure a smooth transition into the day shift.
• Performance Driver: Identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency, and guest satisfaction while maintaining Mama Shelter's unique energy and standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Night Manager, Duty Manager, Front Office Supervisor, or in a similar hotel leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of hotel operations, guest service standards, and overnight hotel procedures.
• Experience handling guest escalations, operational incidents, and unexpected challenges with confidence and professionalism.
• Familiarity with hotel PMS systems and night audit procedures.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and support a team.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and make sound decisions during overnight shifts.
• A positive, approachable attitude that helps both guests and colleagues feel supported and welcome.
